Hi, would you like some advice? We will gladly help you.
If space is tight, cam locks are often the ideal solution
If a regular furniture lock doesn’t work for your application, it is a safe bet that a cam lock will provide the solution thanks to their astonishing flexibility. Cam locks for furniture are compact. minimalist locks which feature a screw-on or rivetted cam at the back of the lock which rotates by 90 or 180 degrees to lock / unlock. The cams come in different lengths, cranks, thicknesses, shapes and sizes – and have a standardized connection point to the cam lock, so you can choose the best combination for your purposes.
Steel furniture cam locks typically have a threaded outer casing for fixing by M19 nut into various material thicknesses; if used in steel, you can also use a spring clip for rapid fixation. Wooden cam locks generally feature two wings to allow fixing with wood screws.
So, keep cam locks in mind as they are extremely useful locks for providing security for tight spaces. On top of all this, cam locks offer a relatively inexpensive solution.
However, nothing is perfect and there are areas where cam locks should not be used. The cam is fixed by a single rivet or screw at the back of the lock, which obviously has strength limitations – particularly with longer cams. Their use should therefore be limited to light applications and never for heavy-duty requirements.
